P.S. Mom didn't pose us. Townie has been raised by Caia since he was a little pup (er, kittten, but don't tell him) and is completely in love. They sleep in the same bed every night...

There was an electrical innovator named L. L. Nunn who lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s and made a fortune building hydroelectric power plants. He is principally remembered today for founding a college/cattle ranch in Nevada that is tuition free. The college motto, attributed to Nunn, is (drum roll):

'One must have a MIND OF WINTER, and have been cold a long time.'

I was googling for 'mind of winter' in that context and came across your site.
