Pia: The Swatch

After all that chatter about swatching, I decided that swatch is what I should do. Drumroll for the camera phone shot please.....

[Yes, I realize you can't really see a damn thing!]

I started Pia on Size 7 Bamboos, which I like for their light feel, but I wasn't crazy about the way I had to fight with the yarn on the P2tog tbl's (this is somewhat inevitable with any needles), so I switched to Size 7 Aluminums - old ugly reliable bright blue monstrosities - and all was fixed. Except that my guage, which had been perfect, is now 18 sts per inch rather than 17. For those of you who are new to the game, this is pretty typical. Bamboos of the same size will give most knitters a slightly different guage than aluminums will. The 1 stitch over every four inches will make a difference of a little less than 1/2 an inch in my size (for one half - less than one inch around), so I'm going to have to figure out whether I can deal with a slightly smaller version (I'm thinking that it could be good, since I'm not chesty and this is a loose tank), or re-swatch on size 8's. I'll let you know.....
