Southern Snowfall

Here's a little something to distract you from the fact that I have not been knitting this week:

I started this piece as a swatch a few months ago and liked it so much that I decided to keep going and make it into a scarf for my wonderful friend Hope. Hope gave me the yarn (Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton) to play with as I was debating whether to purchase a huge pile of it for a bulky sweater. I ditched the sweater idea (well, at least for now), but I love the scarf. I call it Southern Snowfall because it reminds me of the snow we used to get in the tidewater of Virginia when I was growing up. Faint and delicate, with gaps where the sidewalk peaked through. A poetic scarf for a poetic friend.

Julia--I just bought some Blue Sky Cotton at the Angel Hair sale here, just because it is SO SOFT. And the colors are lurvly. Your scarf is just beautiful.

Rebecca -

Thanks for asking about Clementine. I've been working on it, but I'm still not done with all the charts and sizing, etc. Since this will be the first pattern I sell, I'm also trying to develop a format that I really like for sale patterns, and I'm setting up a pdfing service, etc. Clementine will be out within the next month, but with all I have going on in work and life right now, I can't say exactly when. Thanks so much for your interest and your patience! I'll e-mail you as soon as it's available.

Hi Julia--
Any idea on when you will be releasing the Clementine pattern? OMG, I just love it and I can't wait to knit it. I am a southern CA girl now living in Maine and this sweater will definitely get a lot of wear!

What a beautiful pattern! And the cotton looks so crisp and clean. Lovely choice for a gift, J.

If you can't stop swatching you know it's good! What a lovely stitch pattern, blue sky and snowfall - so pretty!

All - The stitch pattern is a traditional one - pretty simple. I'll offer up the scarf as a freebie pattern when it's done and photographed.

Orli - I am back in LA and I love it!

It's a beautiful scarf. It reminds me of snow on trees.

For a minute I thought you were going to tell me it snowed in LA! Craziness! Love the scarf - I never think to use white - but it always looks so classic.

That's going to be perfect for LA weather, wrapped tight, it'll be warm and snugly, left looser, it'll be a little cooler.
Great stitch pattern and it's striking in white. The stitches really pop. Love it.
