[wait for it]

"That someone peed in."

Pinewoods, Tina's Hand Painted Fibers Lemon Sherbet Blue-faced Leicester, procured at the 2005 Rhinebeck Festival by the lovely Cara. Even Moxie admits that this roving is much more evenly spun than the last. With the Chocolate-Covered Cherries, my aim was simply to get used to spinning and to create enough yarn to ply. With the Lemon Sherbet - more Pink Lemonade to my thinking - I'm going for an even yarn, that is a little less overspun to ply into DK to sport weight sock yarn for footies. I think I've got it!

Hi Carla,

Your e-mail bounced my message back to me, so I'm leaving you a note here in hopes that you will find it.

I'm happy to try to help with the booties, but I have to warn you at the outset that my help may be limited, since I haven't knit them in a year and a half and don't have a pair on hand. Tell me where exactly you are stuck in the pattern (line, please!) and I'll see if I can help.

As for Cleveland, it's a big change, but if you explore I think you'll find it to be a really fun city. One of my girlfriends lives there and loves it. I've visited often and have some favorite places to recommend. You must check out Rivercolors for yarn - amazing. There are also several restaurants I really like (I'll e-mail my friend for names) and there is a great farmer's market. The biggest adjustment will be the cold. I lived in Chicago for 10 years, so I have a mind of winter - hence the name! - but it's an acquired taste.

xox, J

You must be spending hours on the wheel because your spinning is just getting better and better!! Are you dreaming fibre yet?

Julia --
I'm a fairly new knitter and was SO confused by the Erika Knight dainty booties pattern. Found your comments when doing a search for problems with the pattern. Did the strap -- no problem. Did the stockinette top -- no problem. Thought it would be a breeze and then couldn't figure out how to proceed. After looking at your pic of the bootie ready to be sewn up for a long time I'm still confused. Is there any way you could email me or post how to do things from where I'm at in a bit more detail? I so want to make these booties for my first granddaughter and can't figure things out. Couldn't find a spot for comments on the archived post about the booties, so am doing it here instead. In getting here I saw some of your photos and comments re southern CA. We recently relocated from San Diego to Cleveland (of all places) due to my husband's job and I am SO VERY HOMESICk. Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

Um, yeeaah, great observation Moxie. There's a 12 year old boy lurking inside every full grown man, sometimes not lurking all that deep...
I love those colors, that is turning into some gorgeous yarn.

I'm so behind, I missed all this good stuff! Your spinning and knitting are beautiful and inspiring!

I'm sorry about Sam. I'm sure you miss him terribly. What a lovely post.

It looks beautiful - you're coming right along!

Your Moxie needs to get together with Fearless Fiber's hubby - he wanted to name some of her hand-dyed yarn "Hemorrhoid."
*sigh* Guys.

Wow. Moxie's really on a roll lately, isn't he? Hee hee.

Ah Moxie. He never quite learned the phrase "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

It's beautiful though, really stunning work and I agree that you are getting better and better very quickly. That wheel is beautiful and you look right in front of it.

Your spinning is getting so good so fast!

Cotton candy that someone peed in. Aie. Your man and mine should have roving-naming contests. Pretty much variations on a theme of excrement around here...

How happy you made me this morning!! You know what's funny? Last year at Rhinebeck I was wandering around looking for fiber for you - I didn't buy any fiber for me. AT ALL. All that's changed this year baby. Now I'm buying for TWO!

So glad you love the wheel. Your spinning's only going to get better and better and better. YAY!
