September 18, 2006Perfectly BalancedNot me - the skein! Now I know that this is not always going to happen, and in fact, may rarely happen again, but please take a moment to revel in the fact that my second skein of yarn off the Rose is perfectly balanced. Overspun, thick and thin, yes, but perfectly balanced. This was one of the few times that a shout out to cyber space simply was not enough. I called both Marnie and Andrea, e-mailed Tiffany and Cara - why the hell don't I have your phone numbers? this is ridiculous! - and would have searched madly for MJ's number in my inbox if I hadn't known full well that she was hanging off some cliff face in Utah having "fun". It was just one of those times when I needed you guys in the flesh, rather than on the net - which is always darn great in itself. Also, Mia asked for a review of the Rose in the comments to my Wheelspun post. I feel somewhat inadequate - okay, very inadequate - to do this, simply because I am so new to wheel spinning. But, I'm not going to let that stop me. I have tried a LOT of wheels in the last month (15 maybe?), so I will try to write up something based on my own experience and the very, very little that I know. Just remember to read it with that caveat. In the meantime, I can tell you that the Rose is my wheel of choice. So much so, that instead of sending it back to The Weaver's Cottage, I'm sending those guys my hard-earned cash. Well, mine and Moxie's. He's paying for half as a Christmas/Birthday present. You knew he had to be nice sometime to make up for all those "witticisms," didn't you? Posted by Julia at September 18, 2006 03:07 AMIn kitties | main | spinning | the rose

Posted by: kat at September 18, 2006 09:13 AMLook at you go! It's so exciting to learn to spin and you're doing a fabulous job. I hope to have a wheel by the end of the year, too;-) Posted by: margene at September 18, 2006 08:29 AMThere's just nothing like bonding with a new wheel. And it's really wonderful that there are so many wheels out there that everyone can find something they love. I still have many early skeins that I keep around just to remember and enjoy. That's a very lovely second skein! Posted by: Theresa at September 18, 2006 07:30 AMThe first skein off the double-drive antique I got decorated a doorknob in the kitchen for a month and a half, just because. I couldn't bear to put it away :-} Posted by: Lee Ann at September 18, 2006 06:53 AMOh mama! That's some gorgeous yarn. I would buy that, seriously. And the balance makes my heart flutter. Is there anything more delightful than taking a skein off your niddy noddy or leg (as the case may be and seeing it just act so perfectly? And I miss Townie. Seeing his little face reminds me of chasing him down the side of your house my first morning there, little stinker. But I love him. Posted by: Marnie at September 18, 2006 05:21 AMPS - The first skein I ever took off my wheel I wore around my neck for two days. Best jewelry EVER! Posted by: Cara at September 18, 2006 04:55 AMI could FEEL your excitement coming through the Internets! Sorry I wasn't here for you. FANTASTIC! FABULOUS! WONDERFUL!! So glad you're having a blast.
