Knits In "Action": River

RiverCIMG0352.jpgI recently found out about the handknit street style flickr pool that Lolly started. (Via Kodachrome - thanks girl! I live under a rock!) I love to see knitters wear their handknits to places other than the yarn shop. One of my favorite moments was in an airport about a year ago when I spotted a woman wearing Kim Hargreaves' First Aid from an older Rowan - how often do you get such a cool sighting? Over the last few weeks I've taken random shots on the days when I wear my knits.

Zosia napped, too. She opted for fur.Last Sunday was a wonderful day to wear River. Moxie and I sat on the porch and it was warm enough to enjoy, but cool enough that a shawl was perfect. I found myself getting sleepy, so I grabbed one of my big outdoor pillows (also handmade!) and said "Moxie, I'm taking a nap. Can you take a few shots of me after I fall asleep?" Voila! River in Action!

Umm, was this First Aid red? In SFO, perhaps? If so, it might have been me. I'm sure that there are other First Aids out there, but I have to ask! First post from a LONG time lurker...

I wish it had been - it would be so cool to have randomly seen the sweater of someone who reads my blog! It was white, though, and I accosted the woman and asked her all about it, so she'd remember for sure. I also think that the airport was LAX at Christmas (2005), though I do fly into SFO several times a year.

photos of people and animals sleeping are some of the cutest photos, i think. and that river color is amazing as always.

Awww, those are such sweet sleepy pics. I think I only get "sighted" at fiber related events. I'm fine with that :)
I've worn several of my handknits up in Portland, but they are so functional, they are commonplace up here.

I've gotten my handknits noticed on occassion. Usually at some fiber related event, but last time was a diner we frequent! It looks like you and Zosia had a nice time on the porch.

I actually got knit-stalked at a wedding while wearing a (gasp!) handknit shawl. Ashley from dogged.com was a guest at my cousin's wedding and approached me with "Is that the Flower Basket Shawl you're wearing?"

It wasn't (it was Forest Canopy), but an instant friendship was made! Fashion risk? Never!

Great stalk! And how nice to strike up a friendship.

I get knit stalked less in LA than I did in DC - folks out here stalk movie stars, so they don't have time for mere knitters, but we do play "Did you knit that?" at my office, and everyone is getting pretty good at knowing whether something is Hoolia made or by J. Crew at this point....
