Laura's Marseilles

Marseilles1.jpgI've mentioned several times that my best friend Laura and I knit Marseilles together. Laura finished first, which was a huge advantage for me, since I knew that the neckline would be too wide in advance and was able to remedy that issue along the way rather than having to undo the seams later as she did. I've been bothering Laura for Marseilles pictures forever, and she has kindly obliged.

I'll do a comparison later, but for now I'll just let you enjoy these pictures of my beautiful friend in her beautiful sweater. I'm so proud when I look at these. We've been best friends for 17 years now. She's an amazing person and a wonderful mother.

I am so, so lucky to know her.

Call off the dogs (and cats!), loyal friends and readers. Glen has been very nice off line. Retreat! Retreat!

Woah, Glen, I don't think you quite grasp the concept. I suppose that the copyright at the bottom of the New York Times site is out of place too, since they frequently quote books, magazines, people, movies and radio.

Glen, Read before you snark, dude! This is a knitting blog. We play nice!

Meee-Oooow!

Wow, Glen. You're kind of an uninformed asshole, aren't you?

This is a comment about your posting of the Wallace Stevens poem. I realize that this poem is in the public domain but, I always wonder when some copyrights the posting on a website of someone else's work....What are you copyrighting the work or the posting of the work....If you want to share it with others just post it don't copyright something that is not your work. Show the author some respect.

Dear Glen,

I share your concerns for copyright and I have the utmost respect for Wallace Steven's work. If you read my extended copyright notice you will understand that it applies to all photos and text not specifically attributed to someone else. The poem is posted with the words by Wallace Stevens directly below the title, which should hopefully indicate to those who read it that it is his work, and not mine. The copyright applies to the nearly 300 posts, 1000 photos, and original knitting patterns which I have produced myself, and which are not in the public domain.

Sincerely, Julia

That looks great-- I love that color for cables. I actually think hers looks way better than the one in the mag!

Another WOW--It was so nice to see you and your pup yesterday. I love the orange Melange you bought and look forward to seeing your new leg warmers. I can just see you wearing them on your porch while knitting.
