March 11, 2007Marseilles Finished; Tuna Gets Some Play![]() Marseilles in Repose The Marseilles Pullover is all finished and fabulous, but you're going to have to take my word for it that it looks great on, because we are having a record heat wave and I'm not so sure that I can brave the elements to wear it! I predicted that this would happen. The temperature has an inverse relationship with whatever I happen to be knitting. No sooner did I get the Daktari Skirt off the needles then we had a little cold snap. I had about a week to wear it and then I had to shelve it until now.
The shot above was actually hard to get, because a certain someone kept inserting herself into the pictures. She likes new things, but she's also kind of a ham. I realized that I should probably have more pictures of her around here, lest you think I have only one little stinky orange cat. I think there are two reasons that I don't have many pictures of Tuna. The first is her coloring. She really is a challenge to photograph, especially on all the dark furniture that we have. The second reason is that it's hard to photograph Tuna in "action." If Townes is a doer, Tuna is a "be"-er. She's a little buddha kitty with exactly one pose: ![]() And here it is...
I wasn't kidding.... In kitties | main | marseilles pullover

I'm dying to see what Marseilles looks like in person, that pink is gorgeous. I love the label, nice touch. Maybe the weather will have cooled down by the time we meet next week. Let's all wear our handknits! Posted by: MJ at March 13, 2007 09:21 AMHi All - thanks for the nice comments on sweater and the Tuna. There are sources for labels all over the internet, but I got these back in 2004 after this post by Stephanie. I've been very happy with them, but I don't use them the way I should. I'm slowly going back and adding labels to all my knits. Posted by: Julia at March 13, 2007 06:53 AMCongrats. it's quite intricate. Posted by: Orli at March 13, 2007 04:35 AMYour sweater is absolutely beautiful! And so is your little buddha kitty. ;) Posted by: Julia at March 12, 2007 04:31 PMLove the finished sweater and Tuna. My kitties are the same way. I lay something out to photograph and here they come. They never come when you call them, though. Really, what's with this weather? One little cold snap, literally no rain, and now a heat wave? Posted by: Leslie at March 12, 2007 12:52 PMIs it still hot? Ready when you are. My Marseilles is done and so is the photoshot! Gorgeous sweater as well as Laura's. Posted by: Wanda at March 12, 2007 09:55 AMTuna is cracking me up! Too funny about the weather-FO inversion. It was crazy this weekend, wasn't it? Holy smokes. Well, hurry up and work on your tank, so the weather will turn cool enough for you to model the Marseilles, b/c we can't wait to see it on you! Posted by: Nonnahs at March 12, 2007 07:59 AMBeautiful sweater. It looks so professional folded up with the tags and everything. I'm eager to see a modeled shot, though. I love that your cat is named Tuna. She looks a lot like my tabby. Posted by: kelly at March 12, 2007 07:25 AMBeautiful sweater - both yours and Laura's. I love love LOVE the color of yours! Posted by: Ellen at March 11, 2007 05:43 PMThe sweater is lovely! I hope LA gets a cold snap so we can see it modeled. Tuna is very cute. She's got that relaxation thing down! I know you've blogged a lot about this sweater, but are you going to do a pattern notes? I am thinking of knitting this sweater at some point, and I would like to use a cool yarn (I live near Sacramento) such as a cotton, bamboo or soy. I don't know how well that might work. I've only knit a couple of sweaters. Have you had experience with cabled sweaters in a non-wool? And if so, do you recommend the practice or not? ______________________________________ Hi Brenda, I'm hoping for some cool air, too, though today I will be happy to wear my Daktari Skirt. I will definitely do pattern notes. I would warn against using cotton for this one. This sweater has heavy cables and will grow quite a bit even in wool. I'm pretty sure that if you made it in cotton you'd be making a dress! Most cabled sweaters are much better in wool for this reason. It has a lot more "memory" and will hold it's shape. I think for coolness I would go with a wool blend. Rowan wool cotton would be great, but the gauge for that is too small, so you'd have to tweak the pattern. Let me think on this one and see if I can come up with a good substitute for the pattern notes. xox, J Posted by: Brenda at March 11, 2007 04:50 PMi did not know you had dos kitties...i like her name. isn't it the lovely irony of knitting that weather and finished objects seem to be in direct contention? i hope we get a few cool days before the 'real' summer, (as opposed to our 'fake' winter)...and i thought i got pegnant in the right season. love the marseilles, i'm sure it will be as lovely modeled. now get on that tank top! Posted by: mamie at March 11, 2007 03:00 PMwell done! i have label envy as well and ooh la la that tuna is a show off ! Posted by: kat at March 11, 2007 01:12 PMNot only are the color and sweater perfect, but the label is the finishing touch. Cute kitty photos to boot.. Posted by: Edna Hart at March 11, 2007 11:49 AMBeautiful! Can we see a picture of the whole thing? :) Posted by: Francesca at March 11, 2007 11:37 AMLovely sweater, lovely label (where is it from?), and lovely, lovely cat. All this loveliness also applies to your friend Laura's sweater, as well-- :) Posted by: kodachrome at March 11, 2007 09:44 AMIt's beautiful, Julia! Congratulations! It's even a balmy 50 degrees in Boston today. Posted by: Kathy at March 11, 2007 09:41 AMOh, I can't wait to see you in that glorious pink. And I'm jealous of your label. Posted by: Liz K. at March 11, 2007 09:28 AMTuna cracks me up. What a lump! And I love the tag in your sweater, btw. Posted by: Jennie at March 11, 2007 09:16 AMMarseille, she is magnifique, non?
