Boho Baby Is On Its Way

This is the second print publication in which I have been able to play a (small) role, and I am so excited about it that I can barely contain myself. Baby Baby is authored by my good friend Kat Coyle, who wrote the majority of the patterns in the book as well. Kat designed the Daktari Skirt and berets that I made from the Knit Cafe book, as well as many other beautiful pieces, such as the LaLa Scarf (shown off to great effect by MH's handspun), and, more recently, the Show-Off Skirt (this is Elspeth's lovely version) from Lace Style, the Indigo Ripples Skirt from the Spring IK (Eunny's lovely version), and a Chuppah from Summer IK (I watched Kat knit this thing - it is huge! Huge, I tell you!).

My own projects in the book are tiny, but I love how they came out, and the book is filled with amazing pieces by Marnie, MH, and Edna. It won't actually be released until fall of this year, but if you have a child under five years old or if you knit for one, I can tell you now that you will want this book. The patterns are different and exquisite. I am so proud to have been involved.

Excellent! And just in time for the nibblet that should be gracing my sister-in-law very shortly. Hey, where do these publishing people find all of these adorable babies anyway? Kinda makes me sorry we stopped at cats.

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by, and congratulations!

I'm pre-ordering, as I now have friends that are, as my aunt still says––in the 'family way'––and I'm gonna wean them away from the boring, typical outfits I see. Gee, how do you tell your kids apart in the nursery? The cover outfits are great! I'd love to review a copy. What age does the book go up to?

Absolutely lovely. Congrats to you and the others involved!

Hello from Nuremberg! And yay for Kat and for all the talented contributing knitters. I'll be waiting for the book over here. I know it will be fantastic, with such a great group of knitters involved.

I have been lurking around your blog, checking out all of your spinning. I just got a Majacraft Rose (never touched a wheel before, but the reviews and quality looked amazing). I am strugling a little getting it to draw the fiber on to the bobbin, and I think it is how I am feeding the fiber. HELP! (she begs...hehe). Your spinning pics help me get a better idea, do you think that you could email me some tips or pics of you threading the flyer?

BTW, congrats on the book!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beth, Thanks for the congrats! I'm guessing that your fiber path is just fine. Here's what I think your problem with the draw is, as I had the same problem: when the wheel is brand new, the bobbins haven't been properly broken in and don't always revolve independently of the flyer. Screw them in and out a few times and you will notice that small bits of plastic come off and the bobbin rotates independently, as it should. If this isn't the problem (though I'm guessing it is), you may just need to adjust the tension a bit. The Rose is very sensitive to small adjustments, which makes it a harder beginner wheel. This is why I liked it - I felt like it was a wheel that could teach me a lot rather than one that would do the spinning for me - but it is challenging at the front end. I hope this helps!
That looks so adorable! Congratulations on getting yet more of your great stuff published. I can't wait to check out the patterns inside. Can you hook me up with your publisher? I'd love to get a preview copy to review for the podcast when the book is released in the fall.
Hey Faith! I'll definitely talk to Kat to see about getting you a copy to review. I'm going to see her today. I'm sure she'd be thrilled to have you podcast about it.
and here i thought i was done with baby knitting, i will most definitely have to get myself a copy. by the time it is published, the boys will have some heft on them and i can knit for fit, vs future. by the way, the brilla is brilliant! it makes me long for a lil' knitter, your torso and some extra time. you look great in it.
Fantastic! (Now how can I get to be the photographer on one of these baby knit books? Hmmmm.)
Cara, if I am ever involved in a kids' book again, I know who to tell the publisher to call!
hi! i was wondering if you remember what mods you made to the kitty pi pattern, i really love yours. it looks fantastic and i'm sure your cats love it. my boy cat is pretty big, about 18lb, so i've increased beyond what the pattern suggests but i'd love to know how you did your decreases to get the sides to stand up like that. cheers! yvette
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry, Yvette, I only have the pattern notes to go by, which I'm sure you checked. I can barely remember mods from the last thing I knit, let alone mods to something 50 FO's ago! The notes say that I added some rows, so I'd suggest trying that!
