What the Elves Made this Year

One vest for dad, one apron for mom, coming up!

Hoolia Claus did not go unassisted. Townes helped to make sure that the vest was folded completely flat for packing by putting in some dedicated napping hours on top of it, and the dogs assisted with moral support while I sewed by lounging lovingly on the bed. I could not have done it without them. I hope that your holiday crafting was just as merry and well-supported. There's nothing quite like having a good crew to get you through!

What great gifts! I kept my list small this year too, and by not having to mail the gifts, the stress level was very low! I love the pets in the pictures. We have a big black lab/shephard who I have yet to take a picture of. No matter what I do she turns into a blob of black.

Hi Connie,

Don't be too impressed. M has been waiting for his black cotton hoodie for over a year and now that it's close to done, it won't quite work for him - it's a hoodie for me! My mom's apron was supposed to be for mother's day - ha! So, I'm just as behind as everyone else. It's Murphy's Law of knitting!

J.

Your loved ones are so lucky to get such thoughtful, well crafted gifts from you! My poor husband and mom are still waiting for their sweaters from me - my husband has been waiting patiently for the past year and a half, my mom for the past 3 months. I'll get to them both someday I hope!

Happy new year!

Hi Ann,

I wrote up the pattern myself for a size 44" chest. I'll put it up on my site as a free pdf file as soon as I get a chance and you can re-size it to fit the other menfolk.

Happy Knitting!
J.

We are a group of 6 that meet each week to knit. We want to make our husband's sweater vest but unable to locate a pattern. Your's is perfect.
Where did you get this pattern?
Thanks for any information you can give us.
Ann
PS my email is the letter q not g. I used to quilt and hate to change email address even though lots send it to g and not q.

Love the vest -- I'm such a sucker for a tweedy knit! Have you talked your dear momma into Kate yet? I always wish for the shelter kids to find a loving home for Christmas. I just pulled the most beautiful black and sable female out of one of our local animal control facilities today -- she's just gorgeous and has such a soft, sweet temperament. Something about her reminded me of the pics of Kate... Hope your Christmas was magical! Sue

Such nice elves. I managed some elf work too and enjoyed myself too much.

Homemade gifts are the best. I love the apron and the sweater. I did crochet neck warmers for friends, a scarf for my mom, and a hat for my fiance. I also sewed both my mother and fiance pajama pants. My beagle Byron helped me keep the fabric in place while I cut by lying down on the material. It was very interesting.

Lovely prezzies! The vest looks fabulous and I officially have apron envy! And you're right- it really does take a village. Dakota helped tremendously this holiday season by following close behind me to pick up crumbs off the floor as I baked. ;)

hoolia, lovely apron you got on over there. You totally nailed my dilemma on the head with your comment. I love that yellow, but I think I may need to switch it out. I guess deep down inside I don't want to look like Big Bird from Sesame Street. Here's to a wonderful end of 2007 and exciting 2008 ahead to you!

Ooh, don't let my parents see this post, they'll realize just how deprived they are, of offspring handiwork. :o)

Both piece came out beautifully though I'm sad to see that there are no buff cowboys or kittens and koi.

The pups look so happy. I want to plant a big kiss on both their schnozzles
