Eat for two, breathe for two, knit for two now...

If the title of this post is too subtle for you and you're stuck in some news aggregator, click on over and view my less-than-subtle new and enhanced banner photo. Conceived by yours truly, but brought to life by the artistic hands of Miss Marnie.

ClassicBooties39.JPG

This little stinkpot started off auspiciously enough - conceived on our "insurance wedding" anniversary and chemically detected for the first time on New Year's Eve. Since then, however, s/he has seen fit to wreck absolute havoc on her host body, subjecting me to "morning sickness" (that euphemism for 24 hour a day nausea - morning sickness - what a lie!), heartburn, and other various and sundry heretofore unknown ailments, which I will kindly spare you the details of. Suffice to say, that if the mother's illness is as good an indication of the child's good health as is generally reported, this kid is superhuman. (Second, of course, to Cara's baby, who is on a whole other plane!) It's enough to drive me to cross stitch a whole bevy of "babies suck" pillows and fill the house with them.

Happily, with one foot into the second trimester, I am feeling miraculously better - still exhausted, still wrought with food aversions, still moody as hell - but so much better. It's like I'm a new person. Or at least half the old person that I used to be! Strange, huh?

Anyhoo, there will be lots more knitting (at least for six months...), but much of it may end up being the tiny, machine-washable variety. I would promise to spare you the details of this journey in favor of high-quality knitting content, but I know better. The best I can do is promise equal time to crafting and life-creating for the next little while.

OMG - how exciting! I hate that I didn't notice this post sooner, but I have been recovering from my third c-section and spoiling my youngest one rotten before going back to work tomorrow. I hate to hear that you have been so sick. Your baby will be here before you know it and you will be so much in love you won't know what to do with yourself. This was my last and I'm already sad about it, but they do grow up into non-listening two year olds and then to very independent 4 year olds. That's all the experience I have for now, but being a mom is great and I'm so happy you get to experience it! Happy Knitting (and growing).

Congratulations!!!!! I'm glad you're feeling better.

Posted by: Jennifer at March 7, 2008 07:21 AM

I completely understand the 24 hour sickness! I never got sick but was so nauseous and SOOOOOO tired all the time. You'll get to feeling even better and might even start feeling really great through the second trimester. Enjoy it because once you start "developing" more rapidly around the midsection you'll get tired once again. Knitting is a great, relaxing activity to pass these times ;-)
Congratulations a million times over and be sure to completely take advantage of everyone that wants to lavish care upon you while you are expecting.

2 words: Sea Bands. They go on the wrist and help relieve nausea. i had to wear them my entire pregnancy. well for both of my pregnancies the whole time. if i even took them off for 10 minutes, i started throwing up again. They dig into the skin (they have to hit an acupuncture point in your wrist) and some people find them uncomfortable for that reason but they worked wonders for me.

Posted by: britt at March 4, 2008 04:31 AM

Congratulations! Having babies is awesome. Knitting for them is fun, too. Glad you are feeling better - it really is all worth it!

Posted by: Anne-Caroline at March 4, 2008 04:17 AM

Posted by: Laurie at March 4, 2008 03:57 AM

WOW! Congratulations, that's some really wonderful news :) Good people having little people is always a really special thing. Now you need to make one of those clever little cross-stitches for you! Happy baby-on-the way, I hope the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing now that you are feeling better!

Also, *love* the new banner!
