The Amazing Disappearing Belly

Okay, you guys are probably going to be sick to death of my pregnancy soon, but this is just too funny. I really am at a stage where the tum is nearly invisible from the front but very visible in profile. M took some photos of me this weekend, including several in front of the mirror in the girls' room. He literally made me stop on my way out on Saturday and said, "Wait til you see these, they'll blow you away." He was right - too funny!

One of me has a belly, the other does not!

I am no longer a victim of belly envy, either. This "disappearing belly" is unlikely to last long, and just between last weekend and the weekend before I have totally pooched out. The growth spurts definitely happen in waves. I can already tell that full bellyville will mean discomfort and trouble sleeping (gasp! this is my favorite activity right now!), so I'm fine as is. Next time back to our regularly scheduled knitting/crocheting/spinning - promise!

I have been reading your blog for a while, before you got preggers and I love it. Please do not stop talking about your pregnancy! You look soo cute! Believe me, you are going to totally pop out in the last 2-3 months of your pregnancy. Gosh, so much to look forward to. The fact that you are sharing this special moment in your life is really wonderful.

Knitting, spinning, crocheting can wait. This is a very special experience. Enjoy, complain...LIVE IT!

Thanks for sharing such a great picture! Everything about it is wonderful, from the belly illusion to your outfit, to the joy on your face.

There's a baby in there! You look fantastic, Julia.

Julia, You look radiant! I think it's true that pregnant women are more beautiful than ever.

Hee, I love that photo! Toooo funny. Directly from the front, depending on the shirt you wear, you may be able to play the optical illusion for quite some time longer.

I totally owe you email, too, but just had to say I love the pic.

What a great photo. You look great.

since I've been there, done that twice now...though I showed more with Gil and gained more with Gil also, I can tell you that
a) growth spurts become more frequent as the pg progresses
b) once you hit the 3rd trimester that is when things will seem to change daily.
c) not everyone gets uncomfortable and looses sleep, you might be pleasently surprised.
on a side note
1) I don't think I could ever be sick of these posts as I love pg bellies
2) you belly is just LOVELY.

That is a good trick! My babies are 14 and 12 yrs now. We took pics when I was HUGE at the end b/c I'm normally a pretty small person and it was funny. I wish I'd taken more during the whole process.

You look really beautiful! I definitely do not think we are going to get sick of seeing this either, it really *is* a miracle. It's wonderful that it is so easy to document it and share it with photos these days. Enjoy it!

Although I am in a biased position, I don't think most people get bored with watching pregnancy. Even the doctor who delivered you said each new delivery renewed his awe at the mystery, the miracle. So thanks for sharing.

I can't remember how I found your blog...knitty maybe? but I just had my first baby 6 months ago now (wow! it's been that long already!) and I totally know what you're going through. I carried Elenoa really small though, so I had belly envy the whole time, but no matter what the size it's so exciting to see the changes--to know that there actually is a baby in there! So congratulations to you! It's exciting times ahead!

Crazy! Well, I said it on Saturday and I'll say it again- you look beautiful! And the belly is fabulous!

I certianly won't tire of any belly/baby posts :) ya look adorable!

That is an awesome picture, Julia. You look really happy :)

Because I'm not around you all the time, I sometimes have these moments where I want to go "OH MY GOD, you are really pregnant!" hehe. The belly bump is so so cute and it's a pretty neat trick how you make it go all stealth at certain angles. :)

Your growing belly is fantastic! Thanks for the belly update :-)

It's fun to watch someone taking the time to enjoy the experience of pregnancy.

Posted by: Tana at April 30, 2008 12:35 PM

That is too funny! It really is invisible from the front angle. I think you're right, though; I can see a difference in the belly just between this and the last picture you posted. Glad you're not suffering from belly envy anymore!

Congrats again. You look just beautiful.
